Biostimulation means the stimulation of the production of body's own substances - collagen and elastin - and activating the biological functions of the skin.
Biostimulation is one of the newer skin rejuvenating procedures, where an injectable containing calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) from Radiesse® is pre-mixed with a physiological solution before use.
This results in a long-lasting aesthetic effect characterized by tight and elastic skin. Biostimulation performed once with the Radiesse injectable significantly reduces moderate and more severe signs of aging. Studies have proven it to be a safe and highly effective procedure.
Biostimulation:
- Helps to stop the signs of aging on the face and body
- Helps to improve the firmness and elasticity of the face and body
- Treat cellulite
- Treat stretch marks and acne scars
- Is also ideal for reducing unevenness after liposuction and restoring the smoothness of the skin.
The long-term collagen-stimulating effect of Radiesse is perfect for both the face and body (neck, cleavage, arms, palms of hands, thighs, legs and buttocks).
How is biostimulation with Radiesse injectable performed?
The Radiesse procedure stimulates the activation of fibroblasts, promoting the synthesis of collagen and elastin, which in turn increases skin firmness and improves skin quality. The substance does not cause any rejection reaction, because it is part of the bone and tooth tissue. It is a biological, biodegradable and resorbable injectable that gives an immediate volumizing effect. CaHA particles are discharged from the body (degraded into calcium and phosphate and eliminated through the kidneys) in 9 to 12 months.
What makes the Radiesse injectable special?
Radiesse is the first CaHA collagen stimulator for restoring the volume of face and hands, which has been approved by FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration).
As an injectable, Radiesse has been used in the world for over 16 years, but in recent years it has come to be used as a biostimulant in addition to its volume restoring effect. Many medical studies have been carried out, which have established that the immediate restoration of volume is followed by a gradual formation of new tissue through neocollagenesis, elastin production, angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and skin cell proliferation.
The preparation is well suited for supraperiosteal (on top of the bone) and subdermal (under the skin) placement. Studies have proven that CaHA improves type 1 collagen and elastin production for up to 2.5 years after a 2nd treatment carried out at 4-month intervals. It has also been proven that skin thickness is improved by up to 50% through collagen and elastin stimulation.
When will the effect of biostimulation become visible and how long will it last?
The effect of biostimulation will be noticeable immediately after the procedure, but in the following couple of weeks the result will improve significantly. Usually, the maximum effect will be reached in 2 months, ensuring a noticeable improvement in skin quality and reduction of skin laxity lasting up to 18 months. For the best possible result, we recommend repeating the procedure in 1 or 2 months.
The result and duration of biostimulation also depends on the patient's own collagen production capacity and the level of skin laxity.
