What is Fotona 4D?

Anti-aging procedures are performed on 4 different levels with the help of two laser wavelengths (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) and 4 treatment modes, influencing the structures that connect the deep, middle and superficial layers of the skin (superficial musculoaponeurotic system - SMAS) and through that aging-related symptoms. The first 3 stages of the Fotona 4D laser rejuvenation procedure utilise a neodymium laser wavelength that penetrates deep into the tissues, and the last stage uses a superficial erbium laser wavelength.

Fotona 4D laser rejuvenation stages explained:

1. SmoothLiftin™ is tightening of facial skin from inside the mouth. Tissues can be heated particularly effectively from the inside, through the mucous membrane, causing the contraction of stretched collagen fibers, collagen stimulation and neocollagenesis. This results in improved skin tone and elasticity, and reduction of the nasolabial fold, which is comparable to the effect of filler injections in the area. The signs of sagging tissues under the eyes are also reduced and the tone of the tissue around the mouth and on cheeks is noticeably improved. We can also enlarge the lips and rejuvenate the mouth area at this stage, if desired.
2. FRAC3® is a unique neodymium laser program that delivers tiny, high-temperature jabs deep into the skin. The non-ablative mode allows the stimulation of deeper collagen fibers to complement the effect of the oral procedure and to restore youthful appearance.
3. The PIANO® heating mode uses laser heat. Heat penetrates deep into the tissues, stimulating collagen and elastin through the activation of heat shock proteins (HSP), which in turn activate fibroblast and collagen synthesis. This results in the regeneration and tightening of the skin and a visible lifting effect.
4. SupErficial™ is one of the most effective methods for skin rejuvenation, where the superficial layer of the skin is gently removed and renewed. Exfoliation effectively renews the epidermis (surface layer of the skin), evens out the skin tone and eliminates the signs of photoaging. This results in silky, mother-of-pearl glow and glossy skin. We can also use stronger laser polishing (Full beam) or fractional laser treatment at this stage, if desired, in case of severe pigmentation, acne scars, deep wrinkles, etc.

When can I expect the results of Fotona 4D laser rejuvenation?

For optimal results, we advise completing three Fotona 4D laser procedures at 4-week intervals.

In the time between, the skin can renew and the procedure can take effect. Most patients notice some results immediately. The final result becomes visible gradually in 2 or 3 months and improves significantly over time.

Depending on the issues, age and condition of the skin, it may take more than 3 procedures to achieve the best result (1 procedure per each decade of age). We advise repeating the procedure once a year to maintain a beautiful result.

If the client wishes to avoid the redness and flaking of the skin, we advise choosing the Fotona 3D procedure, where the last stage is omitted.

What is the Fotona 4D laser rejuvenating procedure?

• First, we advise you to visit our specialist for a consultation, to establish together the most suitable procedure for you and prepare a treatment plan.
• The procedure takes an hour, is generally painless and easily bearable and does not require anesthesia.
• After the procedure, the skin will be a little hot and red, so if possible, make the appointment for the procedure in the second half of the day, after work. However, it is not prohibited to return immediately to your daily activities.
• On the day after the procedure, you should start applying cream to the skin, using specially designed deep moisturizing products.
• In the first 2 to 4 days there may occur flaking of the skin, and you should continue using the creams provided to you in order to relieve skin irritation, itching and facilitate peeling of the skin in the mildest and safest way.
• If you wish to avoid the redness and scaling of the skin entailed with the last part of the 4D procedure, it is possible to omit the last stage and perform the 3D procedure, which will not be followed by the redness and scaling of the skin and instead a deeper, invisible renewal and tightening of tissue and skin takes place.

Care guidelines after the procedure:

• During the first 24 hours, the skin may be sensitive, with stinging sensation, flushing and swelling. The swelling can persist up to 36 hours.
• Wash the face with a gentle facial cleanser (must not contain acids or retinols!).
• Moisturize the skin, using a post-treatment or Silkses cream. The cream should be applied in a thin layer every 2-3 hours for 5-7 days. Avoid the mask effect!
• Aggressive cosmetic products (acids, retinols, etc.) must not be used until 7 days have passed.
• Within 1 month after the procedure, use a sun screen of SPF30 at minimum when outdoors.
• No sauna, gym and swimming pool/spa for 1 week.
• In case of side effects, make sure to contact the specialist who had performed the procedure.
